use of ABNF terms from RFC 3986

Reported by: julian.reschke@gmx.de Owned by: draft-ietf-httpbis-p1-messaging@tools.ietf.org
Priority: normal Milestone: 22
Component: p1-messaging Severity: In WG Last Call

Description

2.7.1. http URI scheme

If the host identifier is provided as an IP literal or IPv4 address,

We don't import the "IP-literal" and "IPv4address" rules from 3986, so this would make more sense as just "provided as an IP address".

That would just result in IESG comments about it not mentioning IPv6 as distinct.

From [2029]:

(editorial) just refer to IP address since we don't distinguish IPv4 vs IPv6 anywhere else; addresses #390
