IDnits not working from datatracker submit page 2 #2880

Reproduce:

  1. Upload new draft via https://datatracker.ietf.org/submit/
    Ignore the idnits link on that page
    add desired document (e.g.: text document)
    click upload
  2. Up comes page: https://datatracker.ietf.org/submit/status/....
  3. Click on green box "View IDnits Check"
    Result pop up: everything is fine.

Alas, the document is far from fine. That green box just does not work. If i pass it directly to idnits check it comes up with a lot of issues.

https://tools.ietf.org/idnits?url=https://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-anima-autonomic-control-plane-21.txt

(if you want to re-try the green button on the datatracker page, you would have to change the version number if you wanted to avoid a meta-data error, but i think thats orthogonal from idnits link not working).

idnits has two modes; submission check mode and full mode. Full mode is required to be clean on publication request, when the draft goes to the IESG, but not at draft submission time.

Check this, for instance (same draft as above, but only running submission checks): https://tools.ietf.org/idnits?url=https://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-anima-autonomic-control-plane-21.txt&submitcheck=1

The submission page idnits results for this document are as expected. If you look closely, you should see that it says:

Running in submission checking mode -- *not* checking nits according to https://www.ietf.org/id-info/checklist

Closing this as invalid.
